An old single-storey terrace house broken down and reconfigured to challenge the norm. Away goes the conventional; where the main spaces were given the view of the carpark and hard cold concrete. Enters IKON, a new prototype which introduces a reversed layout where the parking is now secondary and users (human) is the main priority. The space planning focuses on harnessing the benefits of living in tropical country and therefore creating pocket of courtyards to bring in light and air. Inspired by the surrounding architecture, fun and informal architecture elements such as the conservatory at the front becomes the face of the home, an icon which represents the commitment to green living. Furthermore, it contributes to a greener streetscape along the neighbourhood of TTDI. When in doubt, plant trees!
